“As COVID hit, many projects run by SMARTKITE came to a halt but this did not dilute the spirits of our young warriors, they found other ways to help the ones in need. “

)Distribution of FREE MASKS during Covid: Our members got in touch with a few garment exporters who generate a lot of waste cloth, during the production process. We managed to get hold of a few kilograms of unused cloth and connected with the workers of a stitching school. Those workers were kind enough to stitch face masks for free. Once ready, out little warriors connected with the representatives of various RWAs and NGOs for distribution of about 1500 washable masks, in the first phase. This activity continued in various phases throughout till end of 2021. SMARTKITE distributed almost 10,000 face masks in total.
)Food for the MIGRANT LABOUR: During the mass movement of migrant workers, our young members chose days when they prepared food like sandwiches and rolls, to be given to the people who were migrating back to their villages. A few times these sandwiches were accompanied with small toys, for people to give them to their children in the villages. Our members were hopeful that their small gesture could bring a smile on the faces of those little children who were eagerly waiting for their parents back home.
)Lending the BICYCLES: A few elderly volunteers, volunteered to help the elderly by delivering their daily needs articles, but they required vehicles to do the same. Our warriors consented to lend their Bicycles for the same.
)ONLINE CLASSES: This has been our best and the most rewarding project. Schools were shut and SMARTKITE members had ample time. 1 of the members came out with the idea of teaching their younger counterparts online, it could be academic topics or story-telling classes. Our young members enjoyed this project the most as it benefitted many children. Our members still continue taking classes on various topics. Earlier it benefitted their friends only, but today this project benefits many under privileged children who have access to phones.
